DAF Direct

Buy the piece. See every dollar.

Mass-market furniture is sold the same way it has always been sold: one price, no cost trail, a delivery estimate that is really a guess, and a warranty that ends the moment the piece leaves a showroom. Nothing about that is illegal. All of it is a choice. We are making the other one — the same suppliers, the same factories, the same pieces, with the whole arithmetic printed next to the price.

The price

20% of landed cost

Our 20% is the entire markup we take. Not a discount off an inflated sticker — a share of a cost we show you in full.

The wait

Typically 1–2 weeks, Kelowna

Most pieces leave the supplier within 48 hours of your order and reach Kelowna inside two weeks. We quote a date range per piece, not a vague 'soon'.

What we will not do to you

Most of what follows costs a competitor money. That is the point of publishing it.

  • ✕ Amazon / IKEA / Wayfair / Walmart mark up 100%+.
A representation about the ordinary selling price of suppliers in the market. Competition Act s.74.01(2); the Bureau states such a price cannot be referenced unless those suppliers sold a substantial volume at it — which a regulator can check and we cannot.
→ A retailer who shows you one price and never shows you the cost has something to hide from you. We show you both.
  • ✕ Save X% versus Amazon / the big stores.
A comparative price claim needs a provable like-for-like reference price, and the reference is theirs to prove, not ours.
→ Our 20% is our whole margin. Compare that against any dealer who marks up before freight and never mentions it.
  • ✕ Strike-through prices we have not genuinely sold at.
s.74.01(2)-(3) requires the volume test (>50% of sales at that price) or the time test. Michael's Canada paid a $3.5M penalty for exactly this.
→ No strike-through. Our price is the price, every day.
  • ✕ Discounts that linger past the advertised deadline.
s.74.01(1)(a) false or misleading representation; a 'limited time' offer that continues is unlawful regardless of intent.
→ No countdown timers. A real deadline is the only kind we run.
  • ✕ A delivery date we cannot hold.
s.74.01(1)(c) prohibits warranty/guarantee representations where there is no reasonable prospect of performance.
→ A date range per piece, published before you pay, and a proactive call if it moves.

Delivery, at a published price

Chosen by you at checkout, and never added after the fact. The price you see on a piece is the price of the piece.

Threshold
$95
1–2 weeks

To your address or the lobby of your building, in its boxes. Someone must be there to receive it and someone must be there to take it upstairs — that part is yours, and we would rather say so than let you discover it on the day.

Room of choice
$195
1–2 weeks

A vetted two-person crew carries it into any one room you choose and takes the packaging out with them. Signature required. Stairs and long carries are quoted from your measurements on the previous step, so the price does not move on the day.

Placed & unpacked
$295
1–2 weeks

Into the room, unwrapped, assembled where it needs to be, and every box and wrapping taken away with the crew. Booked with a vetted local white-glove partner who carries the insurance and the liability for the work in your home; DAF books it, manages it, and answers for it.

Sending it back

30 days. The percentages are here, not in a clause.

Days 0–14
Full refund — inspect it at the door and we pay

The cheapest possible moment to change your mind is before the piece enters the house, so that is where we put the decision. Wrong piece, damage, or it will not go where you measured: refuse it, the crew takes it back off the truck, you are not charged for the delivery and there is no restocking fee. If it is already in your home, tell us and we will arrange the pickup — we will always pay it inside 14 days, and inside that window we are quoting you the collection rather than quietly hoping you do not use it.

Days 15–30
Full refund less a 15% restocking fee, return freight is yours

Still a full refund — the fee covers re-listing and the fact the piece is no longer showroom-new. We publish the percentage instead of hiding it in a clause.

  • —Made-to-order, custom-upholstery and commissioned pieces are final sale. We say so on the piece page before you buy, never after.
  • —Damage in transit must be reported within 14 days of delivery, with a photo. After 14 days it falls under warranty instead, which is a different and better route.
  • —One return per order. If you order a sofa, a chair and a table, you can send all three back in the same return — you are not forced to make three trips.
We show every dollar, and we name the source only where we can prove it

Every piece's page carries the full arithmetic: the supplier's price, freight, duty and brokerage, insurance, inspection, local delivery, the landed total, then our fee as its own line. Our fee is 20% of landed cost. That is the whole margin — it is not marked up, hidden in the piece price, or offset against a discount we pretend is a favour. On the supplier line we name the source where a written purchase relationship is on file, and where it is not, the line reads "Supplier (unbranded source)" rather than inventing a name. Today that is every piece in the catalog.
