How we choose suppliers

Six gates.Most don’t make it.

Every workshop must pass a 6-stage vetting process before we place an order. Any supplier who fails a quarterly review is removed.

01
Application

A workshop submits a formal application: production capacity, MOQ, lead times, certifications held, and a sample of their standard catalog. We evaluate each submission against the same criteria.

Scope
6-stage process
Result
Network is small by design
02
Documentation

Business registration, financial health check, third-party environmental certifications (FSC, Nordic Swan, B Corp in progress), and production facility insurance are all verified before anything moves forward.

Scope
14 document categories

Reviewed in 5 days
03
Sample review

Physical samples are ordered and assessed for build quality, material honesty, finish consistency, and durability. Samples that arrive below spec end the process here.

Scope
12-week sample window
Result
Pass / No pass
04
Factory audit

For suppliers above $50K projected annual volume, a factory audit is conducted in person or through a certified third-party auditor. We check working conditions, environmental practices, and quality control systems.

Scope
In-person or third-party
Result
Required > $50K volume
05
Trial order

Every new supplier's first project through DAF is monitored closely. The Specialist logs every step: production timeline, packing quality, customs handling, and delivery condition.

Scope
Full lifecycle review
Result
1 project minimum
06
Network entry

Approved suppliers receive a DAF supplier agreement: pricing transparency (no side commissions), allocation priority for trade accounts, and quarterly performance reviews. Any supplier who violates the agreement is removed.

Scope
Annual renewal required
Result
Ongoing review

Full supplier audit reports available to trade accounts upon request

02 — The waitlist

A different wayto find pieces.

Retail is the future DAF app. Direct-to-consumer. Social commerce channels. For when you already know what you want — a chair, a lamp, a vase — and you just want to buy it.

Distinct from Procurement (full-service, guided) and Commercial (B2B). Same supplier network. Different doorway.
