A furniture curator. Not a retailer. Not a reseller.
DAF is a furniture curator and procurement service. We curate the room workshop-direct through DAF Global Connect — vetted makers worldwide, named on every signed plan. Supplier price plus a flat 20%. One brief. One Specialist.
The room is the work. The pieces are the medium.
- 01What a curator doesA curator chooses the room.
A retailer sells from a catalogue. A reseller marks up what the catalogue carries. A curator does neither. A curator reads the room, names the workshops, and assembles the pieces that belong together. The room is the work. The pieces are the medium. The Specialist holds the curatorial line for as long as the room is the room.
- 02How DAF curatesWorkshop-direct, vetted per brief.
DAF curates through DAF Global Connect — a vetted, named workshop network. Hardwood carving, joinery, ceramics, brass, steel, upholstery. One workshop per category, named on the signed plan. We hold the relationship. The designer holds the room.
- 03How DAF pricesSupplier price. Plus a flat 20%. Every line.
The workshop's invoice is on the plan. Our 20% is on the plan. Freight, duty, delivery coordination on their own lines. No hidden rebate, no kickback, no markup buried in the freight. A flat fee, published, is the cheapest credibility instrument in the category.
- 04What's bundledDesign, colour, mockups, sourcing plans — inside the fee.
Curation is not a separate line. Design direction, colour direction, AR/AI mockups, and costed sourcing plans are bundled inside the 20% on Project Engagement, or inside the $499/yr Lifeware Membership. Nothing is sold a la carte. One fee. One Specialist.
- 05What we don't doWe do not sell furniture. We do not install.
The furniture is never ours. It is yours from the moment it leaves the workshop floor. We coordinate freight, customs, and delivery to your door. We do not do white-glove install or hands-on placement; we advise on local labour for that final yard. The room belongs to you.
Furniture curator. What it actually means.
What is a furniture curator?
A furniture curator is a service that selects, sources, and procures furniture on behalf of a client — a room, a building, or a brand. A curator works workshop-direct: holds relationships with vetted makers, names them on the plan, and prices on the supplier's invoice. DAF is a furniture curator that charges a flat 20% on supplier price. We do not sell from a catalogue. We do not mark up the makers we name.
How is a furniture curator different from a designer?
A designer holds the brief and the room — colour, layout, mood, materials. A curator names the makers and runs the procurement so the room can be built. DAF runs procurement behind the designer's studio. The designer keeps the client relationship and the markup. We never appear in front of the room.
How much does a furniture curator cost?
DAF charges 20% flat on supplier price. The supplier price is the workshop's invoice — visible on the signed plan. There is no design retainer, no hourly, no upselling. Lifeware Membership is $499/yr (founding rate, 20 seats, locked for life; public rate $749/yr after) and covers the 3-7 year exchange window for any DAF-procured piece.
What does DAF curate?
Rooms. Living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, hotels, restaurants, offices, schools, healthcare spaces, condos, multi-family buildings. The brief defines the scope. The Specialist names the workshops. The signed plan names every workshop. The room shows up furnished.
Where does DAF source furniture from?
DAF sources through DAF Global Connect — a vetted workshop network spanning hardwood case goods, upholstery, ceramics, brass, steel, and stonework. Workshops are vetted per brief and named on every signed plan. We do not maintain a public roster. Disclosure is per-project, inside the contract.
Curated rooms. One signed plan.
Send the brief. The Specialist returns a costed plan inside one business day. Every workshop named. Every number visible. Supplier price plus a flat 20%. That’s the whole deal.
