Kiln-dried hardwood frames and eight-way hand-tied springs are worth paying for in a rental context because they resist the specific abuse of high-turnover use.

- A full-length mirror in or near the bedroom
- Sufficient drawer and closet space for a week-long stay

What to avoid
- Upholstered beds with tall fabric headboards — stain magnets, expensive to clean
